It’s the beginning of a new school year.

All across our great city by the Bay, 55,000 kids are unpacking backpacks, finding their desks, saying hello to a beloved friend or teacher. Even as the chaos of our State and country’s financial situation spirals around us, our children call on us to engage and support so they not only succeed, but thrive in our schools.

Can you remember YOUR first day of school? That walk down the hallway, the teacher who made you smile? When fractions finally made sense or when you learned how to  throw a curve ball? Can you remember saying, “when I grow up, I’ll make sure school is more….”

Here’s your chance. What will it take for every child in our city to love school? To become a happy, successful adult? What are YOUR ideas? What do YOU see in our public schools today? What do you want to see?

If we are to succeed as a community, we must continue to support our schools, and we call on all San Franciscans to volunteer, donate, partner, and contribute ideas. We invite you to talk about these questions with your friends and loved ones, and to join the conservation.
