What's at stake
San Francisco is one of the most unique, amazing cities in the world. Period. From Chinatown to Bayview, our city is a place where breakthrough innovation meets rich cultural diversity. Simply put, San Francisco is one-of-a-kind.
But the question is: Can we maintain our city’s continued excellence if we don’t invest in our city’s most precious resource – our children, the future innovators of tomorrow? We need a world-class public education system that embodies the same spirit of equity, innovation, and commitment to our community inherent within San Francisco. A kind of system fit for a new 21st century world that we live in. This goal cannot be accomplished without the work and involvement of the entire city.
That’s YOU. That’s your neighbor. That’s all of us.

Where We Stand
The San Francisco Unified School District has a strategic plan for our public schools, Beyond the Talk, that places equity, student achievement, and accountability at the forefront. The goal: to make sure all of our students are on a path to success in college, career, and life.
This report shows you where our public schools stand today. While not everything that is important can be measured, this report depicts a few of the non-negotiable measures that the district and its community partners are closely monitoring to ensure that our schools are moving in the right direction.
Over the next three years, the district is aiming to see double-digit growth in these areas for all our students and will report on its progress annually.
We invite you to review the report and join the discussion on our public schools.
